Tips From The Travel Guru

Travel is one of the most exciting things a person can do. It allows you to immerse yourself into new cultures and norms, and with every new place you visit you become that much worldlier. However, planning for a trip requires a lot of patience and organization which be pretty stressful. As a travel fanatic, I have come up with a few tips that will help you plan your next trip to a new world!

1. Decide who you will go with (or if you’re going alone)

Choosing the right person to travel with is very important. You do not want to have a crummy time in a new country/city. Your travel buddy should be someone who you are compatible with and who you are relatively close with. If you are going to spend 24/7 with them, you want to make sure you can tolerate them! On the other hand, if you are going with your parents, then you are set! No need to worry about any costs or expenses.

2. Agree on a destination

Picking a destination is probably the hardest part. There is so much to see in the world that it becomes almost impossible to choose just one. Do your research. Come up with a top 5 dream destinations and narrow it down based on your research. Websites like, or are very helpful in terms of reviews and accuracy.

 3. Agree on a duration

Now that you have chosen your travel buddy and destination, you must now agree on the duration of your trip. This is why picking the right buddy is important. If you plan on doing a 3-month long “Euro Trip” then you better have chosen the right person to accompany you. Duration varies on the destination, for example all-inclusive trips to Mexico or Cuba are usually week-long, but trips to Europe or Asia will generally require 10 days or more. Make sure you have the vacation time and make sure your traveling partner does as well. Nothing hurts more than finding out you can’t take that vacation you have been dreaming about for so long.

4. Time to BOOK!

The time has finally come, you have done your research and it is time to book. Remember to always have your credit card and personal information ready. Be sure to read all the details before confirming everything and don’t forget to turn off your cookies! If possible, do not use a Mac. The rumors are true. It has been proven that PC’s will show cheaper deals to the same destinations than Macs. Also, try to use a new computer if possible that has not seen all your search results. All of these steps will help you find a great trip at an affordable rate.

5. PLAN as you GO

From previous experience I would like to share with you my most valuable tip. DO NOT plan everything before you have reached your destination. Do some research beforehand but do not necessarily book all your activities. When you arrive at your destination you will learn and find other alternatives and will discover better deals than at home. Buying train tickets or planning a parasailing experience is much more affordable and safe at your destination than at home. You never know what could happen and the conditions that you will end up in. Try some spontaneity for a change!

  1. I don’t know who you wrote this for but you helped a brotehr out.

  2. I suggest you rename this article to "Who’s the worst Web User anyone has ever seen?"I’ll admit that not having a back button is slightly annoying. However, by trying to cheat the UI like you did you caused most of the other issues you reported. Geesh, play by the rules.
