Canada moves up to second place in the medal count by winning a gold and silver medal in the women’s ski cross event earlier today.
Marielle Thompson and Kelsey Serwa took both the gold and silver medal respectively today in Sochi. Sweden ended up placing third to win the bronze.
Thompson took the lead halfway down the course and held that lead through the rest of the course with a very strong finish. Serwa finished second right after Thompson.
Serwa had to battle her way through semifinal heat to get to the finals. She was in fourth place before advancing to second place when two skiers fell close to the finish.
This is the third 1-2 finish for Canada in the freestyle ski event at Sochi. Congratulations to Canada for winning another gold and silver medal in Sochi 2014.
